2021 - ECC to host virtual graduation ceremonies for more than 850 graduates on May 21 and May 2

Elgin Community College will hold three virtual ceremonies for the spring 2021 graduating classes. Students are assigned to the graduation ceremony based on the credential(s) earned. All ceremonies will stream at youtube.com/ElginSpartans.

The graduation ceremony honoring recipients of the Illinois High School Equivalency (HSE) Certificate will premiere Friday, May 21, at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Juan Chavez, ECC HSE Class of 2018.

On Saturday, May 22, at 10 a.m., ECC will debut the ceremony for career and technical education programs (associate of applied science degrees, vocational specialist certificates, and basic vocational specialist certificates). Taryn White, of Carpentersville, who will receive her Associate of Applied Science – Welding degree, will be the student speaker for the ceremony.

At 2 p.m., ECC will debut the ceremony for university transfer degrees (associate in arts, associate in science, associate in fine arts-visual art emphasis, associate in fine arts-music performance emphasis, associate in engineering science, and associate in liberal studies). Zain Al Salhani, of West Dundee, who will receive his Associate in Science degree, will provide student remarks for the graduating class.

ECC President David Sam, Ph.D., JD, LLM, will deliver the commencement address for all ceremonies. Chair of the Board of Trustees, Ms. Jennifer Rakow, will also provide remarks during the ceremonies. All speakers will be pre-recorded individually to maintain safety protocols.
