Everything is possible with Elgin Community College as a starting point. I have been attending ECC for three years to earn my Associate in Arts degree. I have been involved in Phi Theta Kappa, engaged in honors program classes, and included on the President’s List each semester of my attendance.
I chose ECC for a number of reasons. With its campus being close to my home in Bartlett, I knew these grand halls would be the perfect foundation for my education. The affordable tuition is another reason I became a Spartan. I recommend ECC to anyone who wishes to further their education in a fun, engaging, and meaningful way with excellent faculty.
My most memorable moment as a student is when I shaved my head to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. I fundraised for childhood cancer in the halls of ECC and spread the word throughout my classes. With the help of the ECC student body, friends, and family, I raised an astonishing $6,987.
All of the professors at Elgin Community College made my experience unforgettable. I am especially grateful to have had Rachael Stewart as my poetry instructor. Not only does she want every student to succeed, she makes each of us feel welcome by turning her classroom into a pleasant learning environment. Mrs. Stewart went the extra mile by meeting me after class and gave me one-on-one assistance that really helped me grasp the concepts. She is a person that I will never forget and one that I aspire to be like.
Elgin Community College will always be in my heart. I have made lifelong friends with professors, staff members, and students along the way. After I complete my Associate in Arts degree, I will continue my education at Elmhurst College, pursuing an elementary teaching degree and licensure. Communities will know that ECC invests in smart, caring students that make a difference in the world. I am that difference, and I owe it to Elgin Community College.
