ECC Athletics welcomes two new coaches for upcoming seasons

The Elgin Community College Athletics Department has announced the hiring of Jim Such as the head softball coach and Diego Garcia as the new head men’s soccer coach.

Such most recently served as the head softball coach at Morton College for five years. Prior to Morton, he worked at the high school level, including Regina Dominican High School, Notre Dame High School for Girls, and The Latin School. He served as the assistant and head coach of the Deerfield Warriors Travel Softball Program for six years.

Such earned his bachelor's in business management from Saint Mary's University and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton.

Garcia has served as the staff coach at Campton United since July 2021 and as the goalkeeper and assistant coach at Chicago KICS Football Club and the head varsity boys soccer coach at St. Rita High School since January 2021. He founded DNA Goalkeeping Academy in August 2017 and is the owner and Goalkeeper Coach.

Garcia worked one season as the goalkeeper director and staff coach at KICS Football Club and as the goalkeeper and assistant coach for women's soccer at Chicago State University. He served as the head varsity girls coach at Nazareth Academy from 2018-2021 and was the assistant coach for the ECC men's soccer team in 2018.

Garcia earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Judson University and a certificate in coaching from UAG Mexico in 2019.
