Reported Covid-19 Exposure

On Friday, Aug. 28, the college was notified that a student, who visited campus on Thursday, Aug. 20, tested positive for COVID-19. We are working closely with the Kane County Health Department (KCHD) to ensure that all contact tracing procedures are being followed. Our custodians will be conducting a deep cleaning and sanitation of the areas visited by the student over the weekend. The student, who is taking classes online this semester, has been instructed not to return to campus until medical clearance is provided.

Since this is an isolated event and does not appear to have spread to additional individuals or areas, the Kane County Health Department is on standby to assist us should the situation change. All employees who may have come into contact with the student will be notified by Human Resources with additional information.

In accordance with federal privacy laws, personal information of individuals involved will remain strictly confidential.

To reduce the spread of COVID-19, ECC continues to require temperature checks for everyone entering the campus, mandatory face coverings, adherence to social distancing and increased cleaning protocols for all campus buildings. Additionally, everyone is encouraged to stay home if you are feeling sick.
