Take your next step.
ECC is committed to offering programs in safe and engaging formats, including online synchronous, online asynchronous, hybrid, and face-to-face. Most student support services are available remotely and in-person by appointment or drop into the office on campus. Technology and online learning resources are also available. See the technology section below.
Academic Calendar
Summer classes begin June 6, June 13, and July 11, 2022. The fall semester begins Monday, August 22, 2022. 12- and 8- week accelerated classes begin Monday, September 26, and Monday, October 17.
Bookstore
Need books and supplies for classes? The bookstore is open on campus and online and fulfills orders within 24 hours. Use the textbook lookup tab and choose shipping or on-campus pick-up.
Campus Health & Safety
Face-to-face instruction on campus will be conducted with protective measures, including regular sanitizing college facilities and social distancing following federal and state guidelines. Per the revised Illinois State Mandate, vaccinations or weekly testing are required for all higher education employees and students, until further notice. The necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.
Classes
ECC will offer classes in online, hybrid, and face-to-face formats for the summer and fall semesters.
Financial Aid
Financial aid and scholarships are available to support your educational goals. Make sure you apply for financial aid and scholarships for the upcoming school year. Please get in touch with one of our financial aid advisors to learn more. If you are not eligible for a grant and need a student loan, please email us at financialaid@elgin.edu. We can accept financial aid forms and documents via email. You can also fax forms or documents to 847-608-5460 or mail them to Elgin Community College, Financial Aid and Scholarships, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, IL 60123.
Scholarships
To apply for scholarships, visit the Scholarships page. If you receive a private scholarship mailed to ECC, please check with us to confirm that the office has received it and that you have been awarded the scholarship. If your sponsor cannot send the check at this time, let us know to help you.
Sizes of Student Groups
ECC may reduce class sizes to accommodate social distancing guidelines during face-to-face instruction, and ECC may add additional lab sections to accommodate smaller groups. In some cases, ECC may break up larger groups in adjacent rooms.
Student Support Services & Faculty Office Hours
Since the onset of the pandemic, hundreds of students have utilized our student services remotely. Although virtual services will still be available during the summer and fall, all student support services will be provided on-campus, including admissions, academic advising, financial aid, student accounts, wellness services, and more. Instructors will deliver faculty office hours virtually. Instructors teaching on campus may also hold office hours in-person at their own discretion.
Technology
To be successful in the online learning environment, students will need to be equipped with the necessary technology, such as a laptop or Chromebook, and access to the Internet. If you do not have access to these resources and need assistance, please contact the Library Circulation Desk at circdesk@elgin.edu for Chromebook requests and deanofstudentservices@elgin.edu to request Wi-Fi hotspots.
Please note: The college's priority is to distribute resources to students who do not have access to online technology at home. These resources are available to students enrolled in credit and adult education classes, such as High School Equivalency (HSE) exam prep and English as a Second Language (ESL).
Applying to Elgin Community College is easy, and there’s no deadline or fee.
Earning an Associate degree or certificate can set your career in motion.
