Student Orientation

New College Student Orientation

All first-time college students must attend new student orientation prior to registering for classes. Once you have completed steps 1-3 of the enrollment process, contact the Admissions Office at 847-214-7385, to schedule an orientation date. These sessions are designed for the new student only. We strongly encourage parents/families to attend one of our parent/family orientations.

  1. Submit a completed ECC application for admission. Apply now»
  2. Submit your high school and prior college (if applicable) transcripts. More»
  3. Demonstrate you have met ECC's minimum competency requirements in writing, reading and math. To determine which requirements you must meet, view minimum competency requirements

Orientation date/place: Sessions are offered April through August for new students starting at ECC in the fall semester and November through January for new students starting at the college in spring semester. It is important you contact the Admissions Office, 847-214-7385, as soon as you complete steps 1 - 3 above. The earliest available orientation session will then be assigned to you. Sessions take approximately four hours. During the session you will:

  • Get to know other new students,current ECC students and staff
  • Explore and use important resources, services and technologies
  • Learn basic educational planning skills
  • Register for classes

New students who have attended another college/university or are attending to complete courses for personal interest only, are strongly encouraged to attend new student orientation. Other students requesting a waiver of this requirement may complete the orientation waiver form.
