Nursing Program
The college offers an associate of applied science degree in nursing. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN state licensure exam to become a registered nurse (RN). After completing the first-year of the nursing program, students may earn a vocational specialist certificate in practical nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN state licensure exam to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Basic nurse assistant training to become a certified nurse assistant is also available.
Note: Criminal background checks and drug testing are required for all health professions programs. Students demonstrating a positive background check or positive drug test will be denied admission to health professions programs. Students demonstrating a positive background check or positive drug test while enrolled in health professions programs will be dismissed from the program.

All candidates must submit an official high school transcript or GED scores and official transcripts from other colleges/universities attended.

Screening Process
The nursing program uses a competitive admission procedure. Applicants are responsible for making sure that all admission materials are submitted by the deadline and all admission requirements have been met. Incomplete applications will not be screened. Applications will be ranked according to the following criteria:
- Score in 25th percentile or better in each section of the PSB-HOA exam (may be taken two times, 6 months apart) – a composite will be calculated based on all scores - worth 30% of application score.
- ACT composite score of 21 and BIO 240 or BIO 245 & BIO 246 with a grade of C or greater OR GPA of 12 credit hours of college credit earned which must include BIO 240 or BIO 245 & BIO 246 with a grade of C or greater at the time of application. Once you have earned 12 hours of college credit, the ACT will no longer be considered for admission. Microbiology must also be completed before entering the 3rd semester of the program - worth 30% of application score.
- GPA based on science courses completed (includes Chemistry, BIO 110, Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology) - worth 30% of application score
- Number of required general education course completed toward the AAS in nursing degree (must have grades of C or better) - worth 10% of application score
