How It Works

Once the required items are received, ECC will issue the Department of Homeland Security form I-20. The I-20 authorizes you to apply for a F-1 student visa at the local American Embassy or Consulate in your homeland. Once the F-1 student visa has been approved, you will be ready to travel to Elgin.

Note: When you arrive in Elgin, contact the international student advisor.

Deadlines for issuing an I-20: November 1 for the spring semester and June 15 for the fall semester. F-1 students currently in the U.S. who wish to transfer to ECC should contact the International Student Services and Programs Office for information.

  • Make copies of all documents and keep for your records.
