Well it is the last week of school and everyone is either excited for summer, stressed about how they are going to do on their finals or both.

I just want to give a little shout out to all of the moms out there! Happy Mothers Day!

Since this the last week of school we all are all planning summer, getting ready to graduate, or either buying new books or returning books hoping to get money out of it. I am hoping to pass my finals even though I am a little worried about math since it is my weakest subject, so I will most likely have to repeat it but the rest of my classes I am not really worried about!

What are your plans for the summer here are some of mine!

1) Spend time with my boyfriend and friends!
2) Go to the city with boyfriend!
3) Turn 21
4) Vacation in Vegas
5) Work on jewelry projects
6) Do the 2 online classes I registered for
7) Do some photography
8) Read
9) Get a possible volunteer position at day care or the library.
10) Lose weight
11) See movies

12) There are others but I cant list them all!

Well thats my final blog for this year, hopefully I get to blog again this year because I really enjoyed blogging have a great summer and good luck on your finals!

Peace Out! /WorkArea/threadeddisc/emoticons/wink.png

Heroes

In honor of the release of The Avengers I decided to talk about heroes this week!

We all probualy grew up watching superheroes like The Hulk, Thor, Captian America, and Iron Man on Tv or reading them in the comics and we all used to wish that we had superpowers like they do.

There is also a time where we need to think about our own personal superheroes.

Have you ever had to write an essay in school about who was your superhero?

Most of us have had to at one point write an essay about who our hero was. I wrote about my grandpa, he has always been there for me and my family, he always is there to make everyone laugh, he is a very strong person, and he has been through alot, with grandma dying, him having cancer, and losing his oldest daughter. Grandpa has always been a hero to me, and even when his time is up in this world he will still be my hero, because he will be watching over me from heaven.

Thats my hero who is yours?

Peace Out!

A thought that came to mind...

Hello everyone! How is everyone today?

Since we are getting so close to the end of the semester, I have realized something everyone has their strengths and their weaknesses.

One of my main weaknesses is Math, I have struggled with it for a long time. I mean I can do the basic stuff like adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, but when it comes to the stuff that we learn in the Algebra classes I am completely confused, its like I am reading a completely different langauge.

At the same time though it made me realize something, although I am not a good test taker which tends to sometimes keep me from passing math, I do realize I have some strengths in math, like graphs and idenifying information.

So lesson is that just because its your weakest subject doesnt mean that you dont have strengths in that area as well.

One of my strengths is writing, although I do struggle with the grammar part of it.

Sometimes grammar is so complicated, its the main thing that keeps us from doing well in English this days at ECC.

So lesson is that college shows you your limitations, and what you are truly capable of, which is more than what you think you are. I believe that you can do anything that you put your mind to if you just keep trying.

One tip when it comes to finals just relax and dont stress yourself out, because it will only complicate things further and it will distract from your goal of passing the class.

Well thats all for this week..

Peace Out!

Secrets to surving the remainder of the Semester!

Hello everyone Happy Sunday! Oh and Happy Earth Day too!

As most of you all know we are almost done with the spring semester, which means summer is coming up very soon. However it also means that very shortly there will be the final exams, papers, oral reports, etc,. And some of you might be failing a class but its not the end of the world, I mean sure I thought that same way about some of my classes but I always try to figure out a way to make a comeback and try to finish the semester off with at least a C.

Here is some tips on how to surrivive the remainder of the semester:

1) Do something that makes you calm like listen to music, or read a book.
2) Make studying fun! Doesnt always have to be boring!
3) Study outside! When its a nice day its always calming and less distracting!
4) Find loopholes in all of your classes whether its extra credit, or bonus points never turn away from that
kind of opportunity!
5) Always know that you have great friends that you can count on to help you out!

In honor of Earth Day I wrote a little poem about the Earth

We live on the Planet Earth
And you know we hate polution
Lets clean up and recycle
Thats a great solution!

Okay I wrote that in 4th grade but I thought it was worth sharing!

Well thats all for this week til next time!

Peace Out!

On This Day in History....

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, can't believe it has been that long all ready!

It really makes you think about how things used to be back then, when everyone was sorted out by class; first class, middle class, and lower class.

The lower class were often looked down upon the first class, just because most of them were poor and the way that they looked and dressed. The first class were alot of snooty people who think that they are better than everyone else and all they care about is money. They were the first to be rescued from the titanic which is why they have the most survivors out of those three classes.

They had the women and children first rule when the Titanic was about to sink, which is probulay where the whole "Ladies First" thing came from.

Well thats my little history lesson for this week until then..

Peace Out!

Hi everyone,

This week Jenn is doing a guest blog for me. Thank You Jenn.

I've read a book recently called 'Community College Success' by Isa Adney.
In the book Isa Adney explains her story as a member of her local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, and she was a winner of the Jack Kent Cook undergraduate transfer scholarship. She was really suprised when she found out that she won the scholarship because it meant that she could have the money needed to complete her bachelor's degree.

The book Community College Success is truly a lifetime for students. The author was the first person her family to attend college and had to learn things the hard way. Now she works for a college advising students. In the book she shares everything she knows to give students a head start. She focuses on things most authors overlook such as how to talk to people, making friends in your classes, how to join clubs, how to get scholarships and how to chose the right career for yourself.

Isa also has other community college students give tips and advice on how to make your time at community college be some of the best rewarding times of your life, by not only getting an education, but also making friends, networking and having the money to succeed in getting that bachelor's  degree.

What I enjoyed when reading the book is that community college students share their own success stories on how to get through community college with an assoicate degree and make the transition to a university ok. The other aspect that I enjoy about the book is that Phi Theta Kappa is talked about alot in the book as being a key to student success.

If your thinking about attending a community college or are attending one please get out and read this book. It's a really good read.

Spring break has ended!

How was everybodys break? Go on any trips? Throw any parties?

Spring break was pretty good for me. I hung out with Peter, read, worked on my jewelry, worked on my speech for speech class, and a whole bunch of other fun stuff!

April is Autism Awareness month. This is the month where people are trying to make people aware of Autism and get them to accept those with it into society

This month is important to me because I have Aspergers Syndrome which is a form of Autism and I wasnt really accepted by others when I was younger, but as I got older people started to accept me a little more.I believe that people need to be accepted into society because these kids and adults with Autism are just like us and all they want is to be accepted by others.

Thats all for this week!

Peace Out!
