Weekend at Pheasant Run/ECC

(My ECC Experience, Student Life, Student Organizations) Permanent link
So this weekend I went to ICCSAA and it was crazy. I am going to do this in list form so i can stop myself from going on a rant. :) Pros: Got a lot of good ideas and thoughts from other leaders at other schools, hopefully it will help me and my clubs. Got a cool tattoo (fake) and my name painted, it's really pretty. Got yummy breakfast and lunch at ECC. Took this really AMAZING workshop called Learning Your Stregths Through Color. Laughed with friends and met new friends. Found a icecream place!! Watched Scooby-doo with friend katie. Cons: Got about one hour of sleep. People screaming at one end of the hall, loud blasting music at the other end. Getting sick at Pheasant Run (not good food) and turns out i wasn't the only one. Feet killing me because of shoes. So im not sure if i am going to go next year, if i do i hope and pray it will be better than this one. I think i was one of the few people who did not have a good time. I know that a lot of people had fun and did not get sick so lucky them :) Peace out everyone have a great week.

Observations

(My ECC Experience) Permanent link
Not much to report this week. I have a few observations though. For one thing I never realized how many students drop classes. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, because it's not. Infact I had to drop a class for the first time and I was pretty scared. But when I was working in registration i noticed a lot of students did it too, so i didn't feel so alone. it might be a silly thing to some people, but when i realized i wasn't alone i felt more relaxed about my decision. I wonder though, did those students feel guilty for their choice like i did? probably not. anyway- i just wanted to share my expereance because i know im not the only one who has to go through this kind of stuff. one other observation i had this week was that some students who have been here for a while needed help signing up for classes online... once again not saying anything bad about them, i was just curious as to why they were just learning now, when we show them in orientation? strange. well have a great week(end) everyone! :)

College Zombies!

(Creative Writing, Student Organizations) Permanent link

So i watched this video about college zombies... http://www.collegezombies.com/ It is really funny and attention grabbing, but still informative. I found myself laughing and learing at the same time (what a nice change haha). If you have the chance check it out!Anyway not much to report except tonight(Nov 4th) at 7:30pm is coffee house (in the Alumni room)! I am hosting it and im really scared but hey..someones got to do it. It's a great place to share your work and get positive feedback :) so every one that can should stop buy, have a seat, and listen to some great poetry and stories! Y'all have a good week :)

First Event !

(Creative Writing, Student Organizations) Permanent link
SO This past monday Cellar Door had its first event of the year. I have to say i was pretty scared because i wasn't sure how it was going to go and we never really had an event. However, once we got the popcorn going things started to move along pretty well.We had a lot of people stop by to ask us what our club was all about (and ofcourse got free popcorn and candy). The storys we read seemed to get some people's attention so that was also a positive outcome. When i had to go up their to read i was really nervous but people clapped and smiled so i guess i did an alright job. I'm not going to lie, i was a little frustrated in the making of this event because i wasn't getting much help. But in the end my club mates really pulled it together and helped me out. I want to thank all of them who helped set up, clean up, and read. I also want to give a special thanks to Ryan and Jinny. Ryan got up and anounced the event when i was too scared to, and Jinny helped make flyers and get things going when i had too much on my hands. THANKS GUYS :) So i hope at the end of this anventure we will get more members. It was for sure a HUGE learning expereance in leadership and corroperation.
