Project updates for week of September 1, 2010
North Parking Lots & New Second Street
- Lots 1-6 have been completed prior to start of fall classes. View campus map»
- The Second Street relocation is done
- Hoffer Drive was patched and reopened
- These lots have L.E.D. lights that should last over 20 years, are more energy efficient, and the amount of light output will not deteriorate the way that conventional lights will
- Base course installed on approximately 30% of new lots with compaction started.
West Parking Lot Expansion Phase I
- Final subgrade compaction and grading is complete
- Light pole bases for L.E.D. lights will be complete this week
- Concrete curbs will start this week
- Storm sewer work is complete
- Gravel base will start next week
- Lot completion will be by October 1, 2010, weather permitting, adding 281 new parking places
West Parking Lot Expansion Phase II
- Design of West Parking Lot Expansion Phase II has been completed and submitted to the Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Elgin for their review. Review process could take up to 6 months by the Army Corps
- Temporary detention pond will be relocated and 510 new parking spaces will be built in 2011
New Street Development
- Development of a new First Street, between ITR and 1741 Fleetwood building (located next to ITR)
- Contract with Design Consultant signed and design is underway
- Replacement of Hoffer Drive from Second Street to Lot 1 scheduled for Summer of 2011
Gateway Sign
- Truss is made and painted and delivered to campus

- Complete overhaul of deteriorated parking lots and sidewalks
- Increased life safety projects
